1. Maintenance Advice
Inspect the post box every 3–6 months for signs of wear, corrosion, or loose fittings; address any issues promptly to maintain safety and durability.
Check all mounting points regularly to ensure the post box remains securely fixed to the wall; tighten any loose screws or fittings immediately.
Clean the post box exterior with a soft cloth and mild soap solution to remove dirt and grime; rinse with clean water and dry thoroughly to prevent water spots or rust.
Do not use abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, or chemical solvents, as these can damage paintwork, protective coatings, or any weather-resistant finish.
Lubricate the lock mechanism with a light graphite powder or lock-specific lubricant every 6 months, or sooner if the key becomes difficult to turn. Avoid oil-based lubricants, which can attract dust and debris.
After heavy rain, check inside the post box for moisture or damp mail; ensure seals or door flaps are functioning properly and repair or replace as necessary.
In coastal or high-humidity environments, increase the inspection frequency and apply a corrosion-resistant wax or coating to metal surfaces if appropriate.
Remove built-up snow, ice, or debris during winter months to prevent door blockages and long-term weather-related damage.
Avoid placing any objects on top of the post box that could cause dents, scratches, or interfere with lid or door operation.
Immediately touch up any paint chips or scratches using a suitable outdoor metal paint to prevent rust or corrosion from developing.
Replace lost keys only through the authorised supplier or locksmith service to ensure the lock mechanism is not damaged or compromised.
Keep the keyhole protected from direct exposure to rain by ensuring the door closes fully each time and that any protective flaps or covers are intact.
Avoid slamming the door shut, as repeated impact may damage the hinge, seal, or lock mechanism over time.
If repainting becomes necessary, remove the post box from the wall before applying any paint, and ensure it is fully dry before reinstalling.
Record the product’s installation and maintenance history, especially for use in shared or commercial buildings, to ensure consistent upkeep.
