Pattern for crocheting Tina Chicken by Hardicraft. The chicken is approximately 11 cm tall and is made with a 2.5 mm crochet hook.

  1. 1. Chicken

    Start at the top part of the chicken.

    Ch 2 with light brown or start with a magic ring.

    1. 6 sc in the 1st ch or in the magic ring, 1 sl in the 1st sc (= 6 sc)

    2. 2 sc in each sc (= 12 sc)

    3. 2 sc in every 2nd sc (= 18 sc)

    4. 6 x (1 sc, 2 sc in the next sc, 1 sc) (= 24 sc)

    5. 2 sc in every 8th sc (= 27 sc)

    6. 2 sc in every 9th sc (= 30 sc)

    7. 30 sc

    8. 2 sc in every 10th sc (= 33 sc)

    9. 33 sc

    10. 2 sc in every 11th sc (= 36 sc)

    11. 36 sc

    12. 2 sc in every 12th sc (= 39 sc)

    13. 39 sc

    14. 2 sc in every 13th sc (= 42 sc)

    15. 42 sc

    Change colour to white.

    16. 2 sc in every 14th sc (= 45 sc) (Crochet in the back loops only)

    19. 2 sc in every 17th sc (= 54 sc)

    Attach the eyes between rounds 8 and 9, leaving 4 st between the eyes.

    20. 6 x (4 sc, 2 sc in the next sc, 4 sc) (= 60 sc)

    21 - 28. 60 sc

    29. 6 x (4 sc, sc 2 st together, 4 sc) (= 54 sc)

    30. Crochet every 8th and 9th st together (= 48 sc)

    31. 6 x (3 sc, sc 2 st together, 3 sc) (= 42 sc)

    32. Crochet every 6th and 7th st together (= 36 sc)

    33. 6 x (2 sc, sc 2 st together, 2 sc) (= 30 sc)

    34. Crochet every 4th and 5th st together (= 24 sc)

    35. 6 x (1 sc, sc 2 st together, 1 sc) (= 18 sc)

    Stuff the body.

    36. 6 x (1 sc, sc 2 st together) (= 12 sc)

    37. 6 x (sc 2 st together) (= 6 sc)

    Fasten off. Pull the yarn through the remaining 6 st and pull tight. Weave the yarn inside.

    Embroider a beak with orange between the eyes.

  2. 2. Neck feathers

    Attach with light brown again at the beginning of round 15 and crochet only in the front loops of the round.

    1. 21 x (1 sl, 3 dc in the next sc)

    Fasten off and weave in the ends.

  3. 3. Wings

    Begin at the bottom of the wing.

    Ch 2 with light brown or start with a magic ring.

    1. 6 sc in the 1st ch or in the magic ring, 1 sl in the 1st sc (= 6 sc)

    2. 2 sc in each sc (= 12 sc)

    3. 2 sc in every 2nd sc (= 18 sc)

    4. - 9. 18 sc

    10. 3 x (2 sc, sc 2 together, 2 sc) (= 15 sc)

    11. 15 sc

    Flatten the wing and crochet the edges together with 7 sl. Fasten off. 

    Crochet another wing and sew them on either side of the chicken, directly under the crocheted edge on round 15.

  4. 4. Comb

    Ch 2 with red or start with a magic ring.

    1. 6 sc in the 1st ch or in the magic ring, 1 sl in the 1st sc (= 6 sc)

    2 - 4. 6 sc

    Fasten off. Repeat rounds 1 to 4.

    5. Continue crocheting in the 1st part: 1 sc in each sc, then continue in the 2nd part: 1 sc in each sc. Your round now has a total of 12 sc.

    6. 12 sc

    Fasten off and sew the comb in the middle of the head.

  5. 5. Wattle (see diagram)

    Ch 4 with red, skip 1 ch, 1 sl in each ch, ch 4, skip 1 ch, 1 sl in each ch. Fasten off and sew the wattle under the beak.
