Retro Van Blue

1. Roof

The roof is crocheted in back and forth rows. After each row, ch 1 and turn.

Ch 13 with white.

1. 12 sc

2. 2 sc in the 1st sc, 10 sc, 2 sc in the last sc (= 14 sc)

3 to 32. 14 sc

33. sc 2 st together, 10 sc, sc 2 st together (= 12 sc)

34. sc 2 st together, 8 sc, sc 2 st together (= 10 sc)

35. sc 2 st together, 6 sc, sc 2 st together (= 8 sc)

36. sc 2 st together, 4 sc, sc 2 st together (= 6 sc)

37. Crochet a row of sc along the entire roof as follows: 34 sc along the side, 3 sc at the corner, 10 sc along the bottom, 3 sc at the corner, 34 sc along the side, 6 sc along the top (= 90 sc)

Attach the blue yarn in the 1st remaining loop of round 43, far left behind the triangle (keep the triangle facing you).

End with 1 sl in the 1st sc. Fasten off.

Attach the white yarn again in a remaining loop of row 1 at the back of the bus.

Crochet a row of sc along the loops and along the triangle at the front, make 3 sc at the tip of the triangle. End with 1 sl in the 1st sc. Fasten off.
2. Base Plate

The base plate is crocheted in back and forth rows. After each row, ch 1 and turn around.

5. Crochet a row of sc around the window as follows: 3 sc down the side, 3 sc at the corner, 12 sc along the bottom, 3 sc at the corner, 3 sc up the side, 1 sl in the 1st sc of the top. Fasten off.

Crochet another identical window.

Ch 9 with grey.

6. Front side window left

Ch 9 with grey.

7. Side windows centre

Ch 5 with grey.

5. Crochet a row of sc around the window as follows: 3 sc down the side, 3 sc at the corner, 2 sc along the bottom, 3 sc at the corner, 3 sc up the side, 1 sl in the 1st sc of the top.

Fasten off.

Crochet 3 more side windows.
8. Rear side windows

Ch 4 with grey.

1 to 3. 3 sc

4. Crochet a row of sc around the window as follows: 2 sc down the side, 3 sc at the corner, 1 sc along the bottom, 3 sc at the corner, 2 sc up the side, 1 sl in the 1st sc of the top.

Fasten off.

Crochet another identical window.

Pin all windows in the correct place and sew them on the van.
9. Bumpers

Crochet 16 sc with grey along the front and back.

Fasten off and weave in the ends.
10. Headlights

Ch 2 with grey or start with a magic ring.

1. 8 sc in the 1st ch or in the magic ring, end with 1 sl in the 1st sc (= 8 sc)

Fasten off.

Crochet another headlight and sew the headlights to the front of the bus.
11. Wheels

Ch 2 with grey or start with a magic ring.

1. 6 sc in the 1st ch or in the magic ring, end with 1 sl in the 1st sc (= 6 sc)

2. 2 sc in each sc (= 12 sc)

Continue with black.

3. 2 sc in every other sc (= 18 sc)

Fasten off.

Crochet another identical piece, but don't fasten off now.

Place the two pieces together and crochet them together with a row of sc, crocheting 2 sc in every 3rd sc (= 24 sc).

End with 1 sl in the 1st sc. Fasten off.

Weave in the ends.

Crochet 3 more wheels in the same way and sew the wheels securely to the sides of the bus.
12. Finishing

Embroider with 2 white stitches the bars on the front side windows and on the front window.

Embroider for the rear lights 3 grey stitches over 3 rounds, leave 10 stitches free between the two rear lights.

Embroider with black the windscreen wipers and with blue the logo on the front of the bus (see photo).
