Peas in a Pod

Pattern for crocheting the Peas in a Pod Bag Pendant by Hardicraft. The peas are approximately 12 cm tall and are made with a 2.5 mm crochet hook.

1. Peas

Ch 2 with light green or start with a magic ring.

1. 6 sc in the 1st ch or in the magic ring, 1 sl in the 1st sc (= 6 sc)

2. 2 sc in each sc (= 12 sc)

3. 2 sc in every 2nd sc (= 18 sc)

4. 6 x (1 sc, 2 sc in the next sc, 1 sc) (= 24 sc)

5. 2 sc in every 4th sc (= 30 sc)

6. - 12. 30 sc

Attach the safety eyes between rounds 8 and 9, leaving 4 stitches free between the eyes.

13. Crochet every 4th and 5th st together (= 24 sc)

14. 6 x (1 sc, sc 2 st together, 1 sc) (= 18 sc)

15. Crochet every 2nd and 3rd st together (= 12 sc)

Stuff the pea.

16. 6 x (sc 2 st together) (= 6 sc)

Fasten off. Draw the yarn end through the remaining 6 stitches and pull tight. Weave in the end.

Embroider with pink blush under the eyes and with dark green a little mouth in between, use the photo as a guide.
2. Pod

Ch 32 with dark green.

The pod is crocheted in back and forth rows. At the end of each row, crochet 1 turning chain, this is not mentioned in the pattern.

1. - 8. 32 sc

9. sc 2 st together, 28 sc, sc 2 st together (= 30 sc)

10. sc 2 st together, 26 sc, sc 2 st together (= 28 sc)

11. sc 2 st together, 24 sc, sc 2 st together (= 26 sc)

12. 2 sc in 1 sc, 24 sc, 2 sc in 1 sc (= 28 sc)

13. 2 sc in 1 sc, 26 sc, 2 sc in 1 sc (= 30 sc)

14. 2 sc in 1 sc, 28 sc, 2 sc in 1 sc (= 32 sc)

15. - 23. 32 sc

Fold your work in half and sew the sides together.

Put the peas in the pod, pinch the ends together and sew them closed with a few stitches (see image).

Sew the peas in the pod with a few stitches so they don't fall out.
3. Stem

Attach with dark green at the end of the pod and ch 20.

Crochet 2 sc in each ch, this will make the stem twist.

End with 1 sl at the pod.

Sew the chain of the keyring securely to the pod, just next to the stem.

Fasten off and weave in the end.
