Begin at the top of the body.
Cast on 16 st with white.
1. p16
2. 4 x (k1, kfb, k2) (= 20 st)
3. - 5. st st
6. 4 x (k2, kfb, k2) (= 24 st)
7. - 13. st st
14. 8 x (k1, kfb, k1) (= 32 st)
15. - 27. st st
28. 4 x (k3, k2tog, k3) (= 28 st)
29. p28
30. Bind off 1 st k-wise, k12, bind off 2 st k-wise, k12, bind off 1 st k-wise. Fasten off the yarn.
2. Left leg
There are now two sets of 12 st on your needle, these will become the legs. Turn your work with the wrong side facing you. Reattach the white yarn. You will now start knitting the front 12 st. This will be the left leg, leave the remaining 12 st on the needle.
1. - 21. st st, start with a p row.
22. 6 x (k2tog) (= 6 st)
Cut the yarn, leaving 20 cm to sew the leg closed later.
Thread the yarn through the remaining 6 st and pull tight.
3. Right leg
There are now 12 st on your needle. Turn your work with the wrong side facing you. Reattach the white yarn. This will be the right leg.
1. - 21. st st, start with a p row.
22. 6 x (k2tog) (= 6 st)
Cut the yarn, leaving 20 cm to sew the leg closed later.
Thread the yarn through the remaining 6 st and pull tight.
4. Sewing together
Place your work with the right side facing down in front of you. Fold the sides towards the centre and sew the inside of the legs and the section between the legs closed. Now sew the seam on the back closed. Stuff the body.
5. Head
You start at the bottom of the head. Cast on 8 st with white.
1. p8
2. 8 x kfb (= 16 st)
3. p16
4. 8 x (k1, kfb) (= 24 st)
5. p24
6. 8 x (k1, kfb, k1) (= 32 st)
7. p32
8. 8 x (k2, kfb, k1) (= 40 st)
9. - 13. st st
We will now continue with short rows. Knit only the mentioned st and leave the remaining st on your needle.
14. k22, YTk
15. p4, YTp
16. k5, YTk
17. p6, YTp
18. k7, YTk
19. p7, YTp
20. k7, YTk
21. p6, YTp
22. k5, YTk
23. p4, YTp
24. k21 until you reach the end of your row. From here, from here knit normal rows again.
25. p40 (pm between st 17 and st 18 and between st 23 and st 24. Here you will place the safety eyes later)
26. - 29. st st
30. 8 x (k2, k2tog, k1) (= 32 st)
31. p32
32. 8 x (k1, k2tog, k1) (= 24 st)
33. p24
34. 8 x (k1, k2tog) (= 16 st)
35. p16
36. 8 x (k2tog) (= 8 st)
Cut the yarn, pull it through the remaining 8 st on the needle and pull tight. Attach the safety eyes where you placed the stitch markers. Sew the side seams together, this will be the back of the head. Stuff the head. Pull the yarn through the loops of row 1 and pull tight. Sew the head onto the body. Weave in the ends. Embroider a nose on the front of the snout with black, see photo.
6. Arms (2x)
Begin at the top of the arm. Cast on 8 st with white.
1. - 24. st st, start with a k row.
Cut the yarn at 20 cm. Thread the yarn through the 8 st on the needle and pull tight. Sew the side of the arm closed. Fill the bottom with a small amount of stuffing material and sew the top closed. Sew the arms to each side of the body, just below the head.
7. Ears (2x)
Begin at the bottom of the ear. Cast on 10 st with white.
1. - 3. st st, start with a p row.
4. 5 x (k2tog) (= 5 st)
Cut the yarn at 20 cm. Thread the yarn through the 5 st on the needle and pull tight. Sew the side seams together. Sew the ears on top of the head.
8. Trousers
The trousers are knitted in different parts and then sewn together. Use the images as additional guidance.
9. Part 1
Begin at the waistband. Cast on 36 st with blue.
1. - 2. 18 x (k1, p1) (= 36 st)
3. - 15. st st, start with a p row.
16. Bind off 1 st k-wise, k16, bind off 2 st k-wise, k16, bind off 1 st k-wise. Fasten off the yarn.
10. Left Trouser Leg (Part 2)
There are now two sets of 16 st on your needle, these will become the trouser legs. Turn your work with the wrong side facing you. Reattach the blue yarn. You will now start knitting the front 16 st. This will be the left trouser leg, leave the remaining 16 st on the needle.
1. - 15. st st, start with a p row.
16. Bind off 16 st k-wise
Cut the yarn, leaving 20 cm to sew the trouser leg closed later.
11. Right Trouser Leg (Part 3)
There are now 16 st on your needle. Turn your work with the wrong side facing you. Reattach the blue yarn. This will be the right trouser leg.
1. - 15. st st, start with a p row.
16. Bind off 16 st k-wise
Cut the yarn, leaving 20 cm to sew the trouser leg closed later.
12. Chest Part (Part 4)
Pick up and knit 10 st from st 14 to st 23.
1. - 9. st st, start with a p row.
10. k3, bind off 4 st k-wise, k3
13. Shoulder Straps (Part 5 & 6)
There are now two sets of 3 st on your needle, these will become the straps. Turn your work with the wrong side facing you. You will now start knitting the front 3 st. This will be the left strap, leave the remaining 3 st on the needle. When knitting the straps, slip the first st of each row p-wise to the right needle. Knit 23 rows in st st, starting with a p row. Bind off k-wise. Repeat this for the right strap.
14. Sewing together (see images)
Place your work with the right side facing down in front of you. Fold the sides towards the centre and sew the inside of the trouser legs and the section of the crotch closed. Now sew the back seam of the trousers closed. Fold the straps backwards and sew them to the inside of the waistband.
