Christmas Car

Pattern for crocheting the Christmas Car by Hardicraft. The Christmas car is approximately 11 cm high, 12 cm long and is made with a 2.5 mm crochet hook.

1. Christmas Car

Start with the roof. The roof is crocheted in back and forth rows. Ch 1 after each row and turn around.

Ch 15 with red.

1. to 14. 14 sc

Crochet a row of sc around the entire piece as follows:

15. 12 sc along the side, 3 sc in the corner, 12 sc along the bottom, 3 sc in the corner, 12 sc along the side, 3 sc in the corner, 12 sc along the top, 3 sc in the corner (= 60 sc)

Now continue in rounds.

16. 60 sc, but crochet only in the back loops.

Continue with white.

17. to 23. 60 sc

Fasten off.
2. Bonnet

The bonnet is crocheted in back and forth rows. Ch 1 after each row and turn around.

Start in the 1st sc of round 23 with red.

1. to 7. 15 sc

Fasten off.
3. Boot Lid

Start in stitch 31 of round 23.

The boot lid is crocheted in back and forth rows. Ch 1 after each row and turn around.

1. to 5. 15 sc

Don't fasten off but continue crocheting in rounds with red as follows:

1. 26 sc along the long side, 15 sc in the back loops along the short side, 26 sc along the long side, 15 sc in the back loops along the short side. (= 82 sc)

2. to 7. 82 sc

Fasten off.
4. Base Plate

The base plate is crocheted in back and forth rows. Ch 1 after each row and turn around.

Ch 16 with black.

1. to 26. 15 sc

Sew the base plate to the upper part and fill the car with stuffing material before sewing the last piece closed.
5. Windows

Embroider with red 4 large stitches over the white part of the car to create window pillars (see photo).
6. Wheels

Ch 2 with white or start with a magic ring.

1. 6 sc in the 1st ch or in the magic ring, 1 sl in the 1st sc (= 6 sc)

2. 2 sc in each sc (= 12 sc)

Continue with black.

3. 2 sc in every other sc (= 18 sc)

Fasten off.

Crochet another piece.

Place both pieces together and crochet the stitches together with black: 6 x (2 sc in 1 sc, 2 sc) (= 24 sc)

Fasten off.

Crochet 3 more wheels in the same way and sew the wheels to the sides of the car.
7. Headlights (crochet 2)

Ch 2 with yellow or start with a magic ring.

1. 6 sc in the 1st ch or in the magic ring, 1 sl in the 1st sc (= 6 sc)

Fasten off and sew the headlights to the front of the car.
8. Christmas Tree

Begin at the top of the Christmas tree.

Ch 2 with green or start with a magic ring.

1. 6 sc in the 1st ch or in the magic ring, 1 sl in the 1st sc (= 6 sc)

2. 2 sc in every 2nd sc (= 9 sc)

3. 9 sc

4. 2 sc in every 3rd sc (= 12 sc)

5. 12 sc

6. 2 sc in every 4th sc (= 15 sc)

7. 15 sc

8. 2 sc in every 5th sc (= 18 sc)

9. 18 sc

10. 2 sc in every 6th sc (= 21 sc)

Fasten off. Draw the yarn end through the remaining 6 st and pull tight.
9. Star

Ch 2 with yellow or start with a magic ring.

1. 5 x (ch 3, 1 sl)

Fasten off and sew the star on the top of the tree.
10. Finishing

Sew the Christmas tree with a few stitches onto the roof of the car.
