Chicks

Pattern for crocheting the Chicks by Hardicraft. The chicks are approximately 6 cm in size and are made with a 2.5 mm crochet hook.

1. Chicks

You start at the top of the chick.

Ch 2 with yellow or start with a magic ring.

1. 6 sc in the 1st ch or in the magic ring, 1 sl in the 1st sc (= 6 sc)

2. 2 sc in each sc (= 12 sc)

3. 2 sc in every 2nd sc (= 18 sc)

4. 2 sc in every 6th sc (= 21 sc)

5. 2 sc in every 7th sc (= 24 sc)

6. 2 sc in every 8th sc (= 27 sc)

7. 2 sc in every 9th sc (= 30 sc)

8. 6 x (2 sc, 2 sc in the next sc, 2 sc) (= 36 sc)

9 - 17. 36 sc

Attach the eyes between rounds 11 and 12, leaving 4 stitches between the eyes.

18. 6 x (2 sc, sc 2 st together, 2 sc) (= 30 sc)

19. Crochet every 4th and 5th st together (= 24 sc)

20. 6 x (1 sc, sc 2 st together, 1 sc) (= 18 sc)

Stuff the body.

21. 6 x (1 sc, sc 2 st together) (= 12 sc)

22. 6 x (sc 2 st together) (= 6 sc)

Fasten off. Pull the yarn end through the remaining 6 st and pull tight. Weave in the ends.

Embroider a beak with orange between the eyes and a little line under the eyes.

Crochet another chick.
2. Wings

Ch 2 with yellow or start with a magic ring.

1. 6 sc in the 1st ch or in the magic ring, 1 sl in the 1st sc (= 6 sc)

2. 2 sc in every 2nd sc (= 9 sc)

3. 2 sc in every 3rd sc (= 12 sc)

4 to 7. 12 sc

Flatten the wing and crochet the edges together with 6 sc.

Fasten off and crochet another wing.

Sew the wings to the sides of the body, at the level of round 12.
3. Shell top

Ch 2 with white or start with a magic ring.

1. 6 sc in the 1st ch or in the magic ring, 1 sl in the 1st sc (= 6 sc)

2. 2 sc in each sc (= 12 sc)

3. 2 sc in every 2nd sc (= 18 sc)

4. 6 x (1 sc, 2 sc in the next sc, 1 sc) (= 24 sc)

5. 2 sc in every 8th sc (= 27 sc)
