Baker Mouse

Pattern for crocheting the baker mouse from Hardicraft. The baker will be approximately 14 cm tall and is made with a 2.5 mm crochet hook.

1. Legs

Ch 2 with light pink or start with a magic ring.

1. 6 sc in the 1st ch or in the magic ring, 1 sl in the 1st sc (= 6 sc)

2. - 5. 6 sc

Continue with grey.

6. 2 sc in each sc (= 12 sc)

7. - 10. 12 sc

Fasten off. Crochet another leg in the same way, but do not fasten off this time.

Attach with 1 sl to the 1st leg. This sl does not count as a st.
2. Body

11. Continue crocheting in the 1st leg: 1 sc in each sc, then continue into the 2nd leg: 1 sc in each sc. In total, your round now has 24 sc.

12. - 25. 24 sc

26. Crochet every 7th and 8th st together (= 21 sc)

27. 3 x (crochet 2 st together, 1 sc), 12 sc (= 18 sc)

28. 3 x (crochet 2 st together), 12 sc (= 15 sc)

End with 1 sl, leave a long thread to sew the head onto the body later. Stuff the body.
3. Head

Ch 2 with grey or start with a magic ring.

Stuff the head.

Stuff the head further.

Pull the thread through the remaining 6 st and tighten. Weave in the ends. Sew the head onto the body, ensuring the back of the head is parallel with the back of the body (see photo). The decreases from round 12 to 16 should face downwards.

Embroider a nose and mouth with light pink, using the photos as a guide for placement. Embroider the beads for the eyes between rounds 9 and 10 with sewing thread, leaving 4 st free between the eyes. First sew the eyes in the correct place, then insert the needle from one eye to the other and pull the thread so that the head indents slightly, repeat this once more and secure the thread. Weave in the ends.
4. Ears (2x)

Inner Ear

Ch 2 with light pink or start with a magic ring.

1. 6 sc in the 1st ch or in the magic ring, 1 sl in the 1st sc (= 6 sc)

Fasten off.

Outer Ear

Ch 2 with grey or start with a magic ring.

1. 6 sc in the 1st ch or in the magic ring, 1 sl in the 1st sc (= 6 sc)

2. 2 sc in every 2nd sc (= 9 sc)

3. 2 sc in every 3rd sc (= 12 sc)

Fasten off.

Sew the inner ear into the outer ear. Sew the ears between round 5 and 6, leaving 4 st free between the ears. Weave in all loose ends.
5. Arms (2x)

Ch 2 with light pink or start with a magic ring.

1. 6 sc in the 1st ch or in the magic ring, 1 sl in the 1st sc (= 6 sc)

2. - 4. 6 sc

Continue with grey.

5. 2 sc in every 2nd sc (= 9 sc)

6. - 15. 9 sc

Do not stuff the arm. Press the edges together and close the arm with 4 sc. Fasten off.

Sew the arms to each side of the body at the level of round 26.
6. Tail

Ch 2 with grey or start with a magic ring.

Sew the tail onto the body at the level of round 15.
7. Hat

10. Tea Towel

The tea towel is crocheted in back-and-forth rows. After each row, turn your work.

Ch 11 with blue.

Fasten off. Fold the tea towel diagonally and tuck the point into the apron pocket. Optionally, sew the tea towel to the apron.
